An Ambassador of Committed Drawing
PLANTU is a leading figure in political cartooning in France. For over forty years, he illustrated current events on the front page of Le Monde, becoming one of the most influential and widely read cartoonists in the country. His work, blending humor and satire, exposes the absurdities, injustices, and contradictions of our society. His pencil, as sharp as a peaceful weapon, is a constant call for vigilance and civic engagement.
Deeply committed to many causes, Plantu fights for freedom of expression, respect for cultural pluralism, and the fight against prejudice and racism. In 2006, he co-founded the international network Cartooning for Peace with Kofi Annan, bringing together cartoonists from around the world with a shared mission: to promote peace through drawing.
A Unique Exhibition in Bonneville
Bonneville has the honor of welcoming Plantu for an exceptional exhibition entitled Bonneville for Peace, which will take place from March 14 to September 30, 2025. This major event will resonate far beyond the town’s borders, reaching the Faucigny Glières Community of Communes, the Arve Valley, Greater Geneva, and the entire department.
Through his powerful drawings, Plantu invites everyone to reflect on the world around us. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to discover or rediscover his universe—one that shifts between sadness, outrage, rebellion, but also hope and a desire to help change mentalities.
Exclusive Encounters with the Artist
Plantu doesn’t just exhibit his drawings—he also comes to meet the public. Two exceptional conferences are scheduled: one for the general public on April 2, 2025, and another for middle and high school students on April 3, 2025. These discussions will be an opportunity to explore the role of drawing in shaping ideas, civic engagement, and the importance of freedom of expression.
The exhibition and these meetings are open to everyone, but are especially aimed at younger generations, who are in the process of developing their critical view of the world. As Plantu aptly puts it, his pencil helps people “unlearn intolerance.” It’s an invitation to reflect, debate, and work toward a more open and united future.
Don’t miss this unique event in Bonneville!
